NISSEQUOGUE GOLF CLUB

Rules and Etiquette

This section is designed to help members and their guests understand the rules of golf and the expected etiquette of the Nissequogue Golf Club. To avoid any misunderstanding or embarrassment, we bring to your attention the following rules pertaining to the Golf Operation.

Dress Code:
Proper attire for the golf course is trousers or Bermuda-length shorts, collared shirts and golf shoes. Turtleneck and mock style shirts are permitted. Shirts for men must be tucked in. Cargo style shorts or pants and jeans are not permitted. Tennis attire may not be worn when using golf facilities. Children must observe the same rules.

Cell Phones and Other Audible Devices:
The use of cellular phones is prohibited on Club premises with the exception of the confines of an automobile and the Club Locker Room facilities.

Additionally, cellular phones may be used in silent mode, on the golf course, and in the Bar area of the Grill Room, for brief non-verbal uses, as long as it does not slow play, or distract fellow players and Members.

This silent mode use is not extended to any practice areas. However, you may use your cellular

phone in the silent mode in the cart staging area, in front of the Golf Shop.

Your cellular/smart phone may also be used for listening to music on the Driving Range, ONLY when wearing headphones/earplugs, as long as the volume is turned down, so others are not disturbed.

Cellular/Smart phones may also be used in their camera mode (silently).

All other audible devices are strictly prohibited throughout the Club property.

Guests:
To avoid any misunderstanding or embarrassment, please inform your guests as to the dress code and cell phone policy. Also, guests should be asked to use the Locker Room and not to change shoes in the parking lot.

Pace of Play:
A round of golf at Nissequogue shouldn’t take any longer than four hours. If it does, these suggestions may help:

Pace of Play is not governed by the group behind you, but rather by the group in front of you.

Let faster players through.

Be aware of the position of your playing partners and be prepared to play your shot promptly as your turn arises. Playing “ready golf” will greatly increase the speed of play and will not interfere with your fellow golfers. When on the putting green, line up your putts while your playing partners are taking their turns putting. Do not wait until it is your turn to putt before lining up the putts from both sides of the hole, plumb bobbing, etc.

Speed of Play:
We have found the majority of slow play problems come about when entertaining guests.

Nissequogue can be a difficult course for guests, especially beginner type players. Please check with your Professional Golf Staff when making arrangements for guests, as we can help you pick the best time to play.

Please address all slow play issues or other possible infractions to your Professional Golf Staff.

Care of the Course:
Please replace your divot, if possible, or use your seed bottle. Please repair your ball mark on the green.

Please do not practice on the golf course.
